Script Writing for Secret Deodorant

The Challenge: Secret wanted to capture the beauty and strength of women who weren’t famous, but were doing something amazing in their communities. I was challenged to find women who were making an impact in their communities and capture their story in an emotional script for Secret’s “All Strength. No Sweat” campaign.

The Solution: I found and wrote a commercial script for Melis Aydogan, a first-generation American who was maintaining a corporate career while starting another business to honor her parents Turkish heritage. Then, I wrote a script for Elese Daniel, a LGBTQIA poet known for her honesty and sensuality.

While my clients at Procter & Gamble loved my first scripts (and even became teary-eyed), the commercials were ultimately changed to be more straightforward. I’ve captured the original scripts and audio recordings that each of the women made for me below.

What I Learned: I’m most fulfilled when I’m telling a raw and emotion-filled story. It adds a personal layer that I think can be overlooked in marketing and advertising.
